Oukan A new Japanese Tree Peony. Its breeder is unknown and it has only been registered in Japan in 1997. Its parentage is given as High Noon x  Shinfuso. The latter is light pink, so the colour of Oukan is unpredictable from the parentage. In fact the flowers are lighter than those of High Noon, fading to near white at the petal edges. Small red falres are visible at the very base of the petals. The flowers are larger than High Noon, being fully 20cm in diameter. I consider it to be more beautiful. It flowers a week earlier.
